Shinnecock Canal in the summer of 1974. My Dad and me getting ready to take the Whaler back to White Plains via the Atlantic Ocean. No cell phone, no radio, no gps. Just a compass. My interest in the water started here. 46 years, one wife, 3 kids, a few dogs and one career later, I decided to try and grow oysters. I got a Master’s degree at Stony Brook University and wanted to combine marine science, the outdoors, and a business. Growing oysters fit the bill.
